Dragon Animation WIP 2 by spartydragon Dragon Animation WIP 2 by spartydragon
Sketchy stick dragon walk cycle yaaaay! I've never actually done a walk cycle before. Naturally, I choose something complex to play around with on my first attempt, :iconfacepalmplz:

It's kinda hard to tell how things are going when ya don't have a lightboard or a tablet so I was kinda guessing on a lot of things. The tail and hands suffered the most for it, I think. X) I shall go back and fix those shortly. First, there is foodz to be eaten.

Edit: Fixed the head/neck and hand movements and toned down the tail. The tail is still wrong though. >.>

Looks good! Might try having the tail swing side to side instead of up and down. Thick tails like that tend to move with the legs, rather than the spine.

Thanks! ^-^ From watching some chicken videos, I think the tail goes in a figure eight pattern. A small one. I'm not quite sure how to get that to work in animation. >.> Also, I was dumb and drew this too close to the edge so there's no room to play with the tail. >.<

Because chickens don't have the long tail, their musculature is different. [link] One of the tail muscles in those long tails actually connects to the femur to help with movement. That means a mostly lateral swoosh. As to how to show.... pffffft *throws hands up*

Lol, I know. But even gators don't have a whole helluva lotta lateral swoosh when they're walking: [link] Plus, a theropod's tail is off the ground, there would be a little bit of a bounce to the tail. Hence, the figure eight.

I'm thinking of toning the tail down to something stiffer and more raptor like. Just to save sanity. X)
